Where it began...
The SQS Construction LLC began in 2017 and is currently led by its founder Gerone Trevor Powell. Mr. Powell was born in the Bronx, NY from two Jamaican parents. Thirteen year's of his life, was spent being raised in his parent's homeland of Jamaica. An individual with memories of childhood and experiences that helped him nurture his passion. Mr. Powell grew up on a farm and as a child, Mr. Powell can recall the professionals that would come and do the repairs and general work on his father’s farm. While he was his father’s helping hands even at a young age, the work was always more than Mr. Powell had ever experienced. Every moment he spent with his father, was a teaching moment, and when you live on a farm these learning moments come during repairs. The farm is where Mr. Powell learned to hone his skills. While Mr. Powell is the driving force at SQS Construction LLC, it is his co-partnerships with like-minded individuals that led to the creation of this company. As they worked together on various contracted projects, their work aided neighbors, friends, and family, and they recognized a need in the community—a company driven by safety, quality, and sustainability. As the number and scale of projects grew, so did the company, SQS Construction in 2017 became SQS Construction LLC in March 2020. As for the team that started this, they are now a collective that can provide full-service carpentry and contracting services.

This will allow us to foster a better relationship between the surrounding community and the people who live in them.
